Artist Talk: Nolan Simon on Subject

Detroit based painter Nolan Simon will be in conversation at Buffalo Prescott, focused on subject and contemporary figuration. Simon’s work utilizes classical visual cues translated to express a painting vernacular that feels fresh and interesting. His paintings abound with objects and figures that feel uncanny and relatable, allowing for egalitarian access points to the work.
A CCS graduate, Simon’s work has been included in exhibitions across the US and Europe, including solo shows at 47 Canal in New York City, Lars Friedrich in Berlin, Rieseburo Galerie Christian Nagel in Cologne, Green Gallery in Milwaukee and at What Pipeline in Detroit.
